With two major league sports teams in the heart of downtown, Salt Lake City is looking to leverage that investment into the city’s long-term success.

As part of downtown Salt Lake City's eventual transformation, the home of the Utah Jazz and the Utah Hockey Club is working on the first phase of arena renovations.

Jensen, who was the top target for the Utes, replaces Craig Smith, who was fired in late February during his fourth season at Utah.

The Salt Lake City Council gave its final approval to move forward with Ryan Smith’s proposed downtown revitalization around Delta Center, which the public will foot part of the bill for.

The fate of Abravanel Hall remains an open question, with the committee only committing to a “recommendation for preservation.”

As the Salt Lake City Council mulls allowing 600-foot-high buildings around the Delta Center, public comments are mixed on the project as a whole.

Although a deal has been reached between the city and the owner of the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club, the work to develop the project is just beginning.

Fans started with 20 possibilities to vote on. Smith Entertainment Group announced the choices have been narrowed to Blizzard, Mammoth, Outlaws, Venom, Yeti and Utah Hockey Club, or Utah HC.
